Live captioning done by human beings is the most accurate way to generate closed captions for your live streams. However, this can be labor-intensive. For many feeds, automatic closed captions can be “good enough” for most users.
Using the Google Cloud Speech Recognition service, OBS, and a fantastic plugin called Closed Captioning OBS Plugin, it’s possible to create closed captions from an audio track, then pass those along to your streaming service. Note that we’re creating closed captions as opposed to subtitles.
This guide will walk you through, using vMix and OBS, how to embed CEA-608 closed captions into your live streams.
The guide on how to set this all up.
